BattleTech’s a tricky game, but the structure of the campaign eases you into it better than the career mode sandbox. You can keep playing that Career after the 1200 days but it won't contribute to a score any further. I really hated the story, so my obvious bias is obvious: play out the career instead. What remains to be seen is if the rewards from the final scoring of career are comparable to the rewards you get in the campaign. In career the star systems are at a fixed difficulty, which means the tough battles are always found in basically the north half of the map, but it gives you the opportunity if you are so inclined to find 1 skull systems and work your reputation back up with a faction you’ve dipped too low.
